Wars we Need to Fight

by Francesca Caigatti

August 6, 2010

War... such an interesting word. We've made a War on Drugs and a War on Poverty, both of which we have lost. Wars are always measured in terms of winning and losing.

We have a War on Iraq, a country which did not attack us and was not responsible for 9/11. We now have a War on the Taliban in Afghanistan. Neither of these things is about what government spokespersons and the media say they are about.

Now we're pushing for a War on Iran, a country which does not in fact seem to have any aggressive agenda that I've heard anyone name, nor has it done anything worthy of being attacked other than that there are conflicted reports of whether they have nuclear weapons or not, which no one really seems to know. I've only heard accusation. Our CIA says they don't have them and aren't building them, yet War Mongering headlines keep appearing all the time, so clearly SOMEONE wants War on Iran for SOME reason.

Why don't we just declare a War on Nuclear Weapons instead? Then let Israel, China, Russia, Pakistan, the US, India, and whoever else has them, get rid of their nuclear weapons, then they can leave Iran alone or come up with some other reason for wanting War on Iran.

We have a War on Terror which spawns ever more terrorism worldwide and has led to the repression of Constitutional liberties in the United States. Our people at the top haven't noticed this result of their War, or else that result is what they want. Hint: If people are getting the results they want, they continue doing what they're doing.

One result of our War on Drugs is that there are now more Americans in jail than any other country on Earth, including China. Half of all Americans in jail are in jail for possession of a plant - marijuana. It's absurd, the amount of money we spend to build jails and house these people who have harmed no one. These people, by and large, aren't drug cartel gang members, and aren't responsible for giving orders to others to harm people. We American taxpayers are wasting our money. Why not "incarcerate" them into drug treatment and job training programs instead?

Meanwhile, our own government plays around with bubonic plague, dengue fever, flu, anthrax, depleted uranium munitions and other truly harmful substances, and we pay for that too. The potential harm from our own government here at home on American soil is far greater than from a person jailed because of possession of a plant. Do we then declare a War on our own Government to get them to stop what they're doing? Apparently we can't do that. They'll put you in jail for even saying that.

Our War on Poverty never got as far as a War on Banks or a War on Corporations, which are responsible for a great deal of the poverty in this country. Banking practices have led to our debt economy, the increase in poverty, the destruction of the middle class, and the widening gap between rich and poor. The current attempted War on Banks is, as far as I've been able to understand, not going to change anything in any significant way. The Federal Reserve Bank will continue to have the power to print money, not the United States Treasury, so our War on Banks is by and large a farce and they know it.

The Peoples' Wars:

Since our government will not declare the kinds of wars we really need to be fighting, we'll have to do it ourselves.

Let's start by declaring a War on Media. You fight this one by unplugging your TV. The constant mass-media brainwashing of Americans, who are constantly fed false or misleading information, is one of the greatest tragedies of this and the last century. Control of all media now rests in the hands of six companies. There was a time when such monopolies were against the law. How the laws got changed is one of those mysterious processes that happened behind the scenes to help move forward the agenda of people who do not have the best interests of the American population at heart, to put it mildly. It is to the advantage of crooks and manipulators to keep the American people in ignorance. Our government will not declare a War on Media since they are the ones who have given power to the monopolies. The American people themselves will have to declare this war.

How about a War on Violence? We're being mind-raped by media. So much violence is shown to us all the time that our children cannot possibly grow up to be peace-loving people. Garbage In / Garbage Out. What our children are fed, mentally, shapes them forever. "They" - who are in control of media - are not shaping peace-loving people, and for whatever reason, this is a deliberate choice by the media controllers. This is not something that "satisfies customer demand," unless by providing so much violence they have now created a population that is hooked on violence, like an addiction. How this can possibly lead to anything good is beyond the understanding of this writer, but Hint: When they're getting the results they want, they keep on doing what they're doing. You can choose to not participate in this violence by simply not watching it and not supporting the advertisers who so cheerfully throw their names in your face every 15 minutes.

How about a War on Oil? Corporations and governments are fighting all over the world to get control of oil - in Iraq, in Afghanistan, and they want you to hate Chavez in Venezuela because he won't cooperate with the U.S. about oil. But oil is the single largest polluter of this planet, not just from fuels, but from the manufacturing of oil into chemicals, fabrics, plastics, consumer goods, all those things they want us to buy. Nothing is made from natural materials anymore. It's all made from oil.

If we want to clean up this planet, we'll have to declare a War on Oil. Of course, our government is not going to declare this war. They haven't so far and there's no reason to expect that they will any time soon make any serious efforts to get us out of the oil economy which is now globalized. Thus our planet will continue to be polluted and we will continue to be sick.

The people must declare a War on Oil in whatever way each individual can. Don't buy anything made of plastic -- which means all the new high tech toys, iPods, iPhones, Blackberries, computers, etc., which all have plastic housings. Bill Gates + The Oil Companies = a Computer. Isn't that an interesting realization? At the moment, all our high tech "advances" are tied into oil, the single most polluting substance on this planet. I don't recall anyone ever saying: "You can have this high-tech future, but the price will be poisoning your planet," do you? Is this the only choice and is this future worth it?

We must wage a War for the Release of Suppressed Non-polluting Technologies.

We must wage a War for a "Free Market" Economy which is actually free, which it certainly is not now, nor has it been for over 100 years. We must wage a War for the Tata, the Indian-made car which runs on compressed air, which is not allowed to be imported into this country. We must wage a War for Choice, which we do not have now.

And let's declare a War on Sickness. Our government will not declare this war, as the FDA, EPA, and other agencies will not declare a War on Carcinogens, a War on Pollution, a War on Chemtrails, a War on Petroleum products and derivatives, a War on GMO foods, a War on Pesticides - all of which contribute to our ill health and the ill health of the planet. These agencies allow certain parts per million of thousands of harmful chemicals into our environment, saying that those small amounts of poison "won't hurt us," yet that's not what the statistics say. We have a very unhealthy population and an unhealthy planet. It wasn't like this 50 years ago and it doesn't have to continue. Fight for what you want by finding every way you can to stay healthy, which means not buying the name-brand junk foods in your grocery stores or the various household poisons (mostly petroleum derivatives) you can find almost anywhere.

"War" is an ugly word, but we live on a War Planet, which is obvious if you read history. People who want peace are not inclined to fight or wage wars, as those actions are contrary to the thing they want - peace. Yet being a peaceful person does not mean being a doormat to be walked on. We who want peace just sit and wait, sit and wait, and find that no one in power is helping us attain our goals. We can't dismantle our outrageously bloated military which grows like a cancer, consuming our tax dollars with the sole intent of causing harm to others and with complete disregard for the planet... but we also can't just sit and wait.

There is a time to fight and now is the time if you aren't already. Draw the sword of Right Action, get out there, and do whatever you can do to bring about the changes we so desperately need on this planet. It is quite obvious that those in power are not going to help us do the right things.
