The Mayan Calendar is a like matryoshka, a Russian nesting doll, made of time instead of 3D wooden shapes. A perfect matryoshka causes every doll to share the same point in space as
its absolute center, similar in 2D space of the relationship between concentric circles.
The Mayan Calendar contains nine time periods (underworlds) with several mathematical relationships between them. They all share the same point in time as their END date and like nested dolls are of varying sizes; in the case of the Mayan calendar each time cycle is exactly 20 times shorter than the previous one.
