"Wal-mart, the only remaining profitable retailer, under tremendous pressure to resist a third cost quadrupling of its existing inventories as the US Dollar approaches par with the Japanese Yen, unexpectedly announced today that it would maintain current price levels, but accept payment only in the form of Wal-mart gift cards...effectively establishing what many are calling Wallydollys:
This newest currency backed by sound business practices and large stockpiles has shocked world markets by quickly trading on black markets at an exchange rate of US$5 to W$3. Walmart stores have been swamped with patrons seeking to trade Dollars 1:1 for one remaining week, beyond which Wal-mart has determined to allow its new currency to float freely. Wal-mart's CEO upon further questioning revealed a paper version would be available for circulation within days. Analysts predict Wallydollys will eventually put pressure on all of the worlds fiat currencies -- backed only by the full faith and credit of their respective countries, increasingly questioned by the world's people.
Wal-mart is the largest distributor of food in the US and people's insecurity regarding their next meal has prompted this rush to secure a safe money...not the desire for more stuff, said the head economist at Stanford. Back to you, Jeff"
