CALL FOR DONATIONS FOR THE MAYAN CALENDAR PORTAL SITE
Dear Friends,
As you may know, this spring, Mel Gibson's film APOCALYPTO is due to
come out. (Please see http://apocalypto.movies.go.com/) Given
previous audience response to Hollywood films, it's likely this film
will greatly stimulate people's interest in the Mayan calendar all
over the world. Many viewers will discover the Mayan Calendar for
the very first time. Others will have heard of it but not have a
very clear idea. And surely the audiences may not have previously
considered the possibility that we are living in the end phase of a
16 billion year long divine time plan and would like to know what
this may mean. The one thing we wish to avert is to have the global
moviegoing population think the Mayan calendar forecasts the end of
the world. It does not. The science behind the Calendar is
profound, significant, and inspiring.
That is why Dr. Carl Johan Calleman, the renowned Swedish scholar of
the Mayan Calendar, who holds a Ph.D. in Physical Biology and has
served as an expert on cancer for the World Health Organization, has
called for the creation of a Portal web site for the true Mayan
Calendar. A portal that would gather within its wings the various
writings, articles, web sites, and other materials and information
about the Mayan Calendar that are available but not easily found. A
portal that would set the record straight on what the Mayan Calendar
is, what it says, how it works and what it means for our
civilization. We need to give the world a more objective, fact-based
source of information about the Mayan Calendar.
There is currently a stronger unity among those following the true
Mayan Calendar than the general public might think. This unity needs
to be expressed through a Portal. And what the Portal would
accomplish is nothing less than to unveil evidence of the phase in
the evolution of consciousness that humanity is currently in and thus
indicate a possible path toward oneness and balance for human
civilization, which is so profoundly needed in our world.
There is no better way to do this than the Internet.
THE PORTAL
In addition to the various resources described above, the Portal
would include a message from Don Alejandro Oxlaj, head of the Council
of Elders of the Maya. It would provide a Discussion Forum, a
feedback form, and a calculator of the daily tzolkin energy as well
as a means of determining a person's individual day-sign. It would
also include links to 15-20 web pages of individuals who are either
highly knowledgeable about or personally deeply committed to the true
Mayan calendar. In fact, we have offered to the Council of Elders
of the Maya to have their own web page listed on the Portal if they
so desire.
THE PRODUCTION OF THE PORTAL
To make this important dream a reality, Dr. Calleman has joined
forces with LUCITA (www.lucita.net), a socially responsible, high end
visual media company, which will produce the portal site. Our
intention for the Mayan Calendar Portal is to create a portal site of
stunning beauty, modern functionality, highly reliable back end and
hosting, and cutting-edge design. We are assembling a core team of
highly talented designers and developers, and wish to begin work as
soon as possible so that we can have the Portal finished by August
2006, the time Mr. Gibson's film is released in theaters.
THE PART YOU PLAY!
In order to make this deadline, we need your help. We need to raise
US$2,500 for the initial phase of the Portal design, so that we can
create the design and build the core structure of the Portal, and
approach organizational sponsors for the larger portion of the
overall budget.
Every dollar donated will be used for the design and development of
the Portal, not for LUCITA's overhead or any other costs not directly
associated with the production of the Portal. LUCITA itself is
donating the costs normally associated with overhead and contingency.
Every person making a contribution will be granted individual sponsor
status and will be formally recognized on the Portal site, which will
be presented to Mel Gibson's company in August. In the event you DO
NOT wish your name to be listed, please email the producer, Birgitte
Rasine, at birgitte@lucita.net and we will list you as "Anonymous
Individual Sponsor."
The amount is up to you. Send as little as $10, or as much as you
wish. Every dollar helps!
