Ian Xel Lungold, Creator of Mayan Codex, Passes By Jim PathFinder Ewing (Nvnehi Awatisgi) It is with great sadness that I relate that my friend Ian Xel Lungold, creator of the Mayan Codex for determining the energy of days, passed away Nov. 16 after a lingering bout with cancer, with his longtime partner, Matty, by his side. My deepest sympathy is extended to Matty and all who were close to Ian. I met Ian and Matty in 2002 at the Crestone Metaphysical Fair in Crestone, Colo., and was immediately blown away by Ian’s incredibly energetic personality. (For an account of his teachings at that conference regarding the Mayan Calendar, see The Mayan Calendar: A Roadmap To Consciousness ). In the years since, Ian and I kept up with each other through e-mails, and from reading his Web site http://www.mayanmajix.com I’ve watched Ian from afar in his wide travels, both in space and time, his ups and downs and in-betweens. He certainly was an unforgettable human being, along the line of Gurdjieff’s "Meetings With Remarkable Men," a larger than life character who was always full-tilt in whatever he did, wherever he went. There were no gray, murky areas with Ian: You knew exactly where he stood on anything. He was an adventurer til the end. It’s significant that in the dating of his beloved Mayan Calendar, Ian chose 12 Star as the date to pass on; 12 is "understanding," connecting dissociated parts to create a new functioning whole; experience to be applied. Star is letting your light shine, freely, without restriction. The Medicine Wheel direction is South, body, Earth: the color, gold. Pure gold. That was Ian. I’ll miss him; miss knowing he’s "out there" in the world, spreading his vision, expressing his ideas, blazing a bright trail for others to follow – for, indeed, he left an unmistakable mark, upon the world, upon all who knew him. Though combative and always ready to wield a large sword for what he saw as the Truth (capital "T"), he was lovable, endearing, a sweet, sweet soul, full of rakish humor and razor wit. He stood up to all The Powers That Be unabashedly, without fear, and with a zeal that was truly remarkable. He "led with his chin," I believe, because he was so vulnerable, full of love for humanity and, indeed, just about any human being who crossed his path. He deeply wanted the world to be a better place, where true Justice reigned, and all people could lead a spiritual life without retreat, without apology, as the true Light Warriors he knew that every human had within him or her to be. He wanted the world to be the place we all dream it could be. And by providing the Codex, he gave humanity a key to unlocking that dream. I will miss him. The world has a void today that will be difficult to fill with Ian’s passing. The Work Goes On … Of course, I use Ian’s Codex every day in my morning meditation, and can attest that it works; giving the Flow of Creation for that day. It would be a tremendous shame if his Codex were lost. Dr. Carl Johan Calleman, whose research Ian used to create the Codex, has offered a number of Web sites that continue the work. I hope that Ian’s work will go on – see www.mayanmajix.com – with proceeds from the Codex to go toward a cause Ian would approve. But I offer Dr. Calleman’s note here: Dear Friends,
