2008 Mayan Wall Calendar
In the Mayan Calendar Almanac for the year 2008 it is easy to get to know the different day signs and
then live in a continuous journey of exploration of the cosmic energies according to the true traditional
Mayan Sacred Calendar (in English or Spanish). In the calendar you may learn what the different
numbers and day signs mean for yourself and it also helps you to enter the cosmic flow of time.
There is currently a big gap between on the one hand a few experts that have studied the Mayan
calendar for years and maybe written books about it and on the other the many that have
heard that ”something is going to happen in the year 2012.” I feel it would be desirable to see
this gap bridged and for people to be able to participate in the processes described by the Mayan
calendar themselves.
The way to do this is to follow the energies of the Mayan calendar on a daily or uinal (20 day)
basis and then experience these first hand. I feel it is a misunderstanding that the nature of the
shifting energies of the Mayan calendar has been cut in stone that somebody could just teach
others about. Instead, these energies and archetypes of time have different meanings in the
evolutionary context depending not the least on the day sign and number that each particular
individual was born into. Thus there is truly no way of experiencing the Mayan calendar than
to explore it yourself. In this way the interested person can start to live in concert with the energies
of the calendar day by day without having to rely on statements of experts or defering the
meaning of the calendar to the year 2012.
Needless to say, it still requires some initial guidance to follow the calendar and the 2008 Mayan
calendar almanac includes what is necessary for this. It includes an overall description of
the calendar and its context in the Galactic Underworld. It explains the day-signs and numbers
of the sacred calendar, the so called tzolkin, and presents a description that seeks to capture the
essence of each particular day energy. It also provides the tecdhnique used in Ian Lungold’s
Codex to calculate your individual day-sign and interprets this. It is against the background
of your own day-sign that I feel the calendar should be followed, but this is an experience for
each individual to make himself. It is in this way you may also plan the events in your own life
and your individual process so that they harmonize with the calendrical energies and the overall
process of evolution. Last, but not least, you can use this calendar like any other calendar to
make notes of your plans and be aware of the common holidays that form part of the common
Gregorian calendar.
The Mayan calendar starts with you!
